Plated is a meal delivery kit service. It was founded in 2012 by Harvard Business School classmates Nick Taranto and Josh Hix. In 2013, the founders appeared on an episode of the famous show, Shark Tank, to pitch the idea. Eventually, a deal was made by an investor, Kevin O’Leary. Since its launch, the company has generated over $100 million in revenue. In the fall of 2017, the company was purchased by the grocery store chain, Albertsons, for $200 million. Albertsons started selling Plated meal kits in some of its stores in April of 2018.
With Plated, you can sign up for various plans and choose between 20 new recipes each week. The Plated kits are tailored to your personal preferences, and it fits your meal plan whether you are a seafood lover or even a vegetarian. Recipes are optimized for your schedule as well, with some recipes only taking 20 minutes to prepare. Plated prides itself on reliable deliveries. Each meal kit is packages appropriately and handled with care. The insulated boxes are delivered right at your doorstep. There is no need to stay home and wait for your delivery. The insulated box keeps food fresh up until midnight on the date of your delivery. You can adjust your delivery date and plan on a week-by-week basis.
You can choose the 2-servings plan, which will feed one adult and two kids, or just two adults. If you choose to receive the kit for two nights per week, it is $47.80 per week. For three nights per week, it is $71.70 per week. If you choose four nights per week, it is $95.60 per week. You can choose the 3-servings plan, which will feed two adults and two kids, or just three adults. If you choose to receive the kit for two nights per week, it is $59.70 per week. For three nights per week, it is $89.55 per week. If you choose four nights per week, it is $119.40 per week. If you have a larger family, you may want to choose the 4-servings plan, which will feed two adults and two teens. If you would like to purchase two nights per week, it will be $79.60 per week. For three nights per week, it is $119.40 per week. For four nights per week, it is $159.20 per week.
