Looking for a GPS pet tracker? Someone would probably want a tracker that alerts them as soon as their pet escapes. The Tractive GPS Dog LTE Tracker, which costs $49.99, stands out among the evaluated trackers for its quick escape alarms, making it the fastest. It has a practical design and a rubber clip for safe attachment to the dog’s existing collar. Additionally, it provides a Basic subscription at a lower cost than its rivals, which includes live location, activity, and sleep monitoring. Although there is room for improvement in terms of battery life and there is a need for new health and social functions, the Tractive still offers superior GPS tracking at a competitive price, earning it the coveted Editors’ Choice title.
With additional membership costs, Tractive offers two versions of its GPS and LTE pet trackerâone for dogs and one for catsâeach priced at $49.99. Both models have up to a week’s worth of battery life and are IPX7 waterproof and shockproof. The dog version is better for young puppies than the Fi Smart Dog Collar Series 2, which requires a minimum weight of 10 pounds, as it is specifically made for dogs weighing at least 8.8 pounds.
Tractive offers two choices for subscription plans: Basic and Premium. The Basic plan has monthly payments of $12, yearly fees of $84 or biannual payments of $120. GPS tracking is available at intervals of two to sixty minutes, infinite Live tracking is available at intervals of two to three seconds, and activity and sleep monitoring are also included. One year of location history, GPS data exports, family and public sharing, international coverage in 175 countries, and premium customer care are all included in the Premium plan, which costs $96 annually, $144 every two years, or $300 every five years. Fi, in contrast, charges $99 for its subscription package annually.
The Tractive GPS app lets pet owners follow the locations of all of their animals at once if they have numerous animals. Each individual pet needs its own tracker and membership package, though. The user-friendly layout of the Tractive GPS app features tabs for the Map, History, Activity, Profile, and Account. The pet’s location, battery life, GPS signal, and the date and time of the most recent update are all visually displayed on the home screen’s Map tab.
Tracking is always possible when the gadget is turned on. The location of the pet and the time of the most recent update are shown on the map. Tractive automatically updates the location every two to 60 minutes, compensating for the pet’s activity. To conserve battery life, the tracker decreases the frequency of updates while the pet is not actively moving.
The Live mode enables owners to follow a dog’s every move in the event that it runs off. Tractive offers periodic real-time GPS location updates by touching the blue Live button. On the map, a blue line indicates where the pet is located. It’s crucial to keep in mind that Live mode drastically consumes battery power more quickly than the normal tracking option. Live monitoring automatically shuts off after five minutes to save battery life, but the Profile page allows you to change this time frame.
The Find mode helps locate the pet in cases where there is a spotty GPS signal. A pet icon shows above the Live button when the user’s phone is in the tracker’s Bluetooth range. A blue bullseye surrounds the pet’s profile picture when you tap this icon. More rings turn blue as the user approaches the animal. The tracker has Live and Find modes, as well as a small LED light and an audible alarm that may be activated to help locate the pet.
